Carioca

CARIOCA (not to be confused with karaoke) is a nomadic man who is born in Rio de Janeiro who exudes an unprecedented street savvy. Film/TV actor Glauco Araujo (from Rio de Janeiro now living in NYC) performs excerpts from a new play with music currently in development. A story of unbroken hope, exploring adventurous encounters with various profound characters that shape an unconventional path toward gaining confidence, global consciousness with humor, music and dance. 

 

Cariocas created the bossa nova style of music. Famous Cariocas in film include Carmen Miranda, a Portuguese-born Brazilian woman who grew up in Rio de Janeiro. Carnaval Carioca is the Portuguese name for the largest Brazilian Carnival. ​​
