About The Project

Hitting the Wall is an interdisciplinary live performance project exploring identity, migration, memory, and the construction of artistic persona across the Americas.

Developed across Mexico, the United States, and Brazil, the work moves between text, voice, music, and live performance to create an evolving interdisciplinary performance language.

The project builds on earlier live performance explorations developed across different contexts, including work presented in Australia and the United States.

Structured as a live performance framework, the project extends into readings, public talks, workshops, and interdisciplinary collaborations. These elements function as interconnected modes of engagement, allowing the work to evolve through live audience engagement and intercultural exchange.

The performance exists within a broader creative universe that includes Carioca, a novel currently in development. While the book remains an independent literary work, it exists within the broader thematic and narrative landscape surrounding the project.

Current Development

(Mexico, 2026)

Since February 2025, Hitting the Wall has continued to evolve through an ongoing process of artistic research, collaboration, and live performance development.

The project is currently in an active phase where research takes shape through public presentations, rehearsals, institutional partnerships, and interdisciplinary collaboration across Mexico.

Recent development work in Mexico City, Puebla, and Oaxaca has included cultural research, institutional meetings, rehearsal processes, and relationship-building with local artists and organizations.

Current institutional partners:

Ministry of Culture of Mexico City - Dirección del Sistema de Teatros
Embassy of Brazil in Mexico - Instituto Guimarães Rosa

Centro Cultural Municipal Parque Glória Maria - Rio de Janeiro

This current phase is helping shape the project through live audience engagement, multilingual collaboration, and interdisciplinary exchange across cultural contexts.
